I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

55/150 If you can get around all the talk of lures (types, materials used, ways of trying them) and fly fishing, there's a nice little mystery here. The who becomes obvious before the end, it's the how and why that is the big reveal. I liked the characters, the flirty banter between the female sheriff and the painter/part-time PI without it ever getting really romantic. This is the first of a series, I might have to check out the rest. 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love this author so I just bought this book based on that fact and it's the 1st in a series. Now I have opened it for May #bookspin and see there are no chapters, tiny type, filled top to bottom of page with very few breaks. May take a minute😁

“People say of me, 'She's peculiar.' They do not understand me. If they did they would say so oftener and with emphasis.”
Remembering the inimitable Mary MacLane on her birthday.
Now that April is over I need to play catch up & post all my reviews. April was a month. My daughter has been dealing with some medical issues (we thought it was celiac but the tests were negative). My husband has been dealing with some health issues post his annual physical (which in itself has been stressful enough). Our dog dislocated his hip. We had to make a sudden trip to NC. We took our kids down to NC State & got to see the DJ Burns mural
This book has a strong sense of place and sometimes insightful writing, but overall it needed more editing. I also didn‘t find the story very satisfying for many reasons. Apparently the following books in the series feature a different main character who‘s more compelling than the guy in this book, but even so I don‘t think I‘ll read any further.
In any case #Montana is done and there are only a few states left! #52mysteries
1. Haircut, ballgame
2. Trees, apartments, parking lot
3. Maryland USA. It‘s a little muggy!

Although fiction, the tone of this book is more dour than other park ranger/warden books I have read. I'm not sure I would have finished it if I wasn't listening to it on audio. The main character was not compelling and I didn't feel attached to his story. There is also extreme violence against dogs at 3 parts in this book that I did not expect and totally hated. I don't think I will continue with this series.
