Pickpick

I really liked this book. I wouldn‘t have picked it up if not for #camplitsy24 (because I had never heard of it or the author). It was short and the author didn‘t waste any words.

I did listen on audio, so hopefully I‘ll know which was part 1 and part 2 for the discussion.

Megabooks I‘m so glad you enjoyed it! Excited for next Saturday! 😁🏕️ 19h
squirrelbrain Glad you found it through #camplitsy! 18h

#bookreport
How to say you had a couple of days off work…
King new short stories 👍🏻
Clear for #camplitsy24
Trust in Me- entertaining thriller that I‘ve mostly forgotten!
Live Wire- continuing the Myron series
Guilty Mothers- new Kim - current read.

Oryx I haven't quite finished the SK, just finished the twins one, but what stories stood out for you? 1d
TrishB @Oryx I loved the 2 long ones (Danny Coughlin and Rattlesnakes) as I think you get the full impact of King! But saying that I also loved The Fifth Step as it gave me an evil little chuckle. I did have Taylor Swift‘s Florida in my head the whole time reading the Florida set ones. Listen to it and you will too 😁 23h
julesG @TrishB Now I have that song stuck in my head. 22h
TrishB @julesG me too! Again. 21h
Oryx I liked Rattlesnakes too. I really liked Duma Key, so enjoyed being back in that area. I also liked Red Screen. 19h

Listening to the #audio version of this book. 4+ hours in with 12+ hours to go. I am enjoying it, but also don't feel incredibly engaged. Feeling like if I'm going to bail I need to do it sooner rather than later so as to not just waste time. So, that leaves me with a question for those of you who've read it...

Yay or Nay for sticking it out? Is it worth it and going to pull me back in? 🤷‍♀️

JamieArc Are you reading this for #camplitsy24? A bunch of us will be reading it in the second half of June, so it might be worth sticking it out of you want to be part of the dialogue. 1d
BarbaraJean I'm about halfway through and am finding the ideas more and more interesting as the book goes on. I'm not liking any of the characters, though! I do think it's a worthwhile read (so far) for the way the narrative explores ideas of beauty and socially-imposed female roles. But obviously everyone's mileage will vary... 1d
monkeygirlsmama @JamieArc No, just discovered it on Libby and thought it sounded interesting. 1d
monkeygirlsmama @BarbaraJean That's the problem I've been having. 😝 I'm liking that aspect and enjoy the foodie discussions which is why I'm less inclined to give up. LoL Guess I'll stick with it for now. 1d

This is one of those weird-lit books that says shocking and edgy things. The kind that makes me roll my eyes but like a train wreck, I can't look away.
What is even happening? 🧐🤷🏼‍♀️

Hooked_on_books Well that‘s interesting! Sounds like it‘ll be a fun one to discuss for #campLitsy24! 4d
Megabooks Sounds like a good camp book @hooked_on_books ! 2d

#CampLitsy24 is discussing this in July, and it turns out I'm Activity Leader for this one on the #CampToB website in August. I'll be following the July discussion led by @Megabooks here on Litsy in addition to developing my own discussion questions!

On the #CampToB site, Part 1 discussion will start August 7, and Part 2 to the end will start August 14, in case you'd like to mark your calendars. I'll plan to post more details as I receive them.

BarbaraBB That is so cool!! I‘ll definitely keep up with ToB‘s discussion too and I hope we can be of help 😇 5d
Megabooks I can‘t wait to compare notes with you!! 4d
Ruthiella I‘ll start gathering popsicle sticks for the arts and craft section. 😅 4d

Mehso-so

1. This book was MUCH too long and it took away from some of the important points the author was making.
2. Parts of the book were quite meaningful and worthy of a lengthy conversation, so I‘m glad #camplitsy24 will be discussing the details.
3. I don‘t cook and this book made me want to.
4. I think I enjoyed reading it but I could be convinced otherwise. I definitely am glad I‘m done.

Megabooks This sounds like a good one for discussion then, especially based on points 2 and 4. I didn't know much about it until it was nominated for camp. I'm curious where we'll all come down on it. (edited) 5d
BarbaraBB I‘ll read it next week. I‘ve become very curious now where I‘ll end up. I do like to cook though 😀 5d
Suet624 @BarbaraBB I always imagined that you like to cook. 💕 5d

Suet624 @Megabooks I can‘t wait for that discussion. 5d
squirrelbrain Always better when there‘s lots to discuss! 😜 5d
sarahbarnes I agree on all points. I love to cook and the descriptions of food were my favorite part of the book. Looking forward to the discussion. 5d
Suet624 @sarahbarnes Near the beginning of the book she talks about rice with butter and for some reason it made my mouth water and I had to jump up and cook some rice. I'm glad you had the same thoughts I did. 5d
BarbaraBB @Suet624 Such a homey type, me 😉 5d
Hooked_on_books Funny enough, it actually didn‘t make me want to cook or eat. I think it‘s because she kept mentioning fat/grease glistening on people‘s lips, which just made me gag. 4d
Suet624 @Hooked_on_books that‘s so interesting. 4d
Chelsea.Poole I like your points! I was also worried about it being too long, just by looking at it! 4d
