Not far in, but I am finding this fairly interesting so far. There‘s so much high praise plastered all over it that I remain alternately expectant and suspicious...

Bailedbailed

Abandoning at about halfway. Millie, a 30 year-old millennial (I presume her name is a reference to this) is pathologically incapable of coping with adult life, partially because it is difficult and unrelenting but also because she is stuck in a state of permanent adolescence. She reminds me of the protagonists in Ottessa Moshfegh‘s books; there‘s a lot of filth and disappointment and bodily functions. You really need to be in the right mood.

Mehso-so

This was breezy and enjoyable but not particularly amazing.. I wonder why it was longlisted for the Booker prize? Am I missing something?

I‘m on leave for a week and enjoying this as my first holiday read.

nichollinlove Not my typical type of read but it sounds fascinating! I might make this an October pick for Halloween! Review when you're done! I'm anxious to hear your thoughts! Welcome to Litsy! 2mo
tattersalt Thank you! Just finished and made a new post with a review. Enjoyable but not mind-blowing. Reading other reviews, I believe I may have missed some of the subtler satire, or at least I wasn‘t moved by it. But it was still fun and it‘s only novella-length so definitely worth a go for Halloween 😊 2mo

I'm only on page 27 so I need to keep giving this a chance but I'm feeling a bit bored by this book at the moment...

tpixie @rather_be_reading welcome to Litsy! It took me from 8/23 - 9/21 to finish this book. On audio. But I listened to it for @LitsyBookClub, so I finished. There‘s some real beautiful parts, but it‘s looong. 2mo
tattersalt Thanks for the welcome everyone! Hmm ok @tpixie, good to know, thanks! I‘m on holidays for a week so I might pick it back up while I have time for a slow burn. 2mo
