The Muralist: A Novel | B. A. Shapiro

Simply enchanting! I have never read a description of mania and paranoia so real, so understandable. The hearts shown of Krasner, Rothko, and Pollock made it all the more enjoyable. The novel raises a lot of questions concerning human rights and our moral obligations as people of earth; it would make a perfect book club read! Shapiro expertly and beautifully weaved the tapestry of Alizée's artistry, which made this impossible to put down!

Girl in Hyacinth Blue | Susan Vreeland
Pickpick

Another beautiful and whimsical book by Vreeland. While never placing the whole focus on one character, Vreeland still breathes life into the anonymity of art. She deftly picks up on minute details of style and uses them to her advantage, producing vivid imaginings of historical life.

The Passion of Artemisia | Susan Vreeland
Pickpick

Genuinely one of the best books I have ever read. Vreeland's writing manages to be enchanting while simplistic, creating tangible characters and a view of Italy unlike any other I've seen.
10/10, recommend to any and all art lovers!

Panpan

I normally thoroughly enjoy Dave's writing, but I could not bring myself to enjoy this book. I couldn't get into it. The writing lacks her normal lyricism and flow, and the story is lacking in pull.

A masterful work of lust, passion, duty and shame; highest praise to this first novel of Beutner! The untold story of Alcestis is not one to be missed!

Constance is the quintessential writer- enigmatic, flighty, intense, introspective. When she attempts to get her poems published, editor Morgan seeks out every avenue to convince Constance to divulge her secrets.
