As Elizabeth Kolbert writes, we are the first species to manage a mass extinction ... to decide which evolutionary paths are closed and which are left open. This book was scientifically enlightening and a very good read. It makes one hopeful but cautious for what we can do to reverse the effects of global climate change, ocean acidification, and habitat fracturing.

Living in the alternative reality that is the United States right now, this book scared me. However, it also gave me hope that good people working together can preserve human dignity.

The book was gripping from beginning to end. What I thought would be confusing (switching between characters who followed slight out of sync timelines) actually ended up being the most fun!

The Last Jews in Berlin | Leonard Gross

Just finished this book last night. Amazing account of courage under horribly repressive conditions. Makes me realize that we all must stand together against tyranny and bigotry.
