This is a rather short book with most of its chapters more introductive than storyline. Just when you feel like the story is really starting, it's over. Story itself is interesting, it keeps you surprised. Which is a good things because the writing is a little messy and disorganised.
Even though I have to give it a so-so, it's definitely not my favourite, it has its good qualities.

After anything Sarah J Maas this has to be one of my favourite books. The story is so well written. All the perspectives are really interesting especially the 'parasite' one.
Love love love it!

What a beautiful series. In some parts it could have had more depth and it's feels a bit rushed to end the story. But it has a very serene ending. After all that fighting and survival a bit of closure.
I read this series in one go and one of my grievances is when a sequel continues, the previous story is forced upon you again. Which in this book wasn't so much the case. There was a nice flow to it and it read like one story. I genuinely enjoyed it

a cliffhanger? again?! when is the next book coming out? these were my thoughts the first time I finished this book. Luckily I don't have to wait a year, this time around.
There are two ways to read this book. I must say I have enjoyed both. The first is to just dive into the book and let the story take you away, the second is to pay more attention to the underlying subjects. Such as slavery and suppression and the fight for your freedom.

This book has a great concept. If you really think about what they do to those girls, it's awful. And the companions are basically getting raped and made to think that they chose it, to save their families. It's what makes me love this book. That everything is horrible but coated in fancy, sparkly things, trying to convince it's okay. oh, and the end. such a beautiful cliffhanger. The first time I read this, I was in shock. Thinking 'is this it?!'

I just reread this book and I liked it just as much as the first time. I even ordered the sequel. Though I'm more of a fantasy kind-a-girl, I can appreciate a good mystery. I think the book is pretty well build and keeps it interesting. It could very well have been a stand alone book but it's a series. I'm looking forward to reading the next one and if she can carry on or even improve upon the quality.

First I was intrigued by a the girl that could understand the languages of every cast. It's what made me buy this book.
The book itself isn't very long and misses a bit of depth. Some important details are revealed to soon and some parts are too slow where others are too fast.
However the story is intriguing. So if your looking for something easy and very little time consuming, then this is a book that you could read.

I haven't gotten very far yet. The writing style is rather different then what I'm used to. I'm curious to see whether I'll like the book as much as the film.

I have to say that the sequel is better than the first instalment of the series. The way the book is written is definitely less annoying to read. The storyline is great and more adventurous. There is a big cliffhanger at the end but it doesn't leave you unsatisfied. As a Harry Potter fan I especially loved the little reference in there. I'm very excited for the 3rd book.

Give me a fantasy anytime. I absolutely loved the story, which had a bit of an alice in wonderland feel. The main-character is a bit repetitive at times but it is easy to overlook. The story has a nice amount of twists and I especially loved how her friendships were portrayed.

Maybe not the best written book out there but the story itself is good. It ticks all the right boxes, 'zombies' ✔️, suppression✔️, bad ass heroine that kicks but ✔️, love story✔️.
If you have some time left or aren't sure what to read next then this is the book that you're looking for.
