You can never go wrong with Pablo Neruda. Reading Neruda is like indulging in your favorite food without the consequences. This particular book has a little something for everyone. Each ode brings a new appreciation for its subject matter. Reading the poetry in English and Spanish is highly recommended. There are audio files for the Spanish portions online that give the poetry an exotic feeling if Spanish isn't a language you are familiar with.

This book was an excellent, albeit a rather short read. Murakami is skilled at leaving the reader with strong and inexplicable feelings. It is possible to read this book and be left with more questions than answers.
