I am super excited about the Modern Mrs Darcy Summer Reading Guide this year. So I made a special page in my reading journal to track the books from the guide that I have read/ hope to read!

wanderinglynn That‘s so cool that you print out a mini version of the covers! 😍😍😍 2w
ReadingMeagan @wanderinglynn I thought it was fun! The guide comes with a page of covers. I just shrank them a bit so they were easier to fit into my book 😆 2w

I finished this last night and I‘m still trying to figure out what I thought of it. I found that I really had to concentrate to keep narrators and time lines straight in my head. I was SO cold while reading this, it is very atmospheric. Things are resolved but not cleanly so I was left thinking “huh”. A very interesting choice for the MMD Summer Reading Guide.

Samplergal I felt this book could have used better editing. 2w

This was a good book to read at the start of the summer season. I always end up wanting to visit Nantucket when I finish one of her books. This one was a little predictable, but still enjoyable. I seem to be on a food book kick, so I was happy to see that recipes were included with it 😊

This is the third Ruth Reichl book that I have read in the last week. She just had a way of writing that is so descriptive- I felt like I was along side her experiencing and tasting the things that she saw (and ate).

I‘m always a little sad when I finish a book in this series. Because I get caught up in the story and read quickly, and then it‘s over and I have to wait for a new one all over again. This one was another great addition to the series.

Annl I just started reading the series. I am only on the 3rd book! I love Ruth! 3w

This series is more then a mystery. Every time I read one I learn about women‘s rights in the 1920‘s/30‘s, how PTSD was dealt with then and I learn more about the devastation of WW1. Yesterday was the 102 anniversary of Vimy Ridge and it is fitting that I finished this novel in the wee hours of this morning.

I found that this was one of the better books in this series. I really want to visit Malta after reading this book and I‘m glad that most of it was set there. But Luke Daniels is such a good old boy character- he just annoys me. Does he need to exist in 2019? I don‘t think so. I wish the female characters had more to do, but I really shouldn‘t have such high expectations for this author or series. Still. It was one of the better ones.

This book had a very similar feeling to an Agatha Christie mystery and one is actually referenced in the story. It had me racing through the book to find out what was happening. But it wasn‘t my favourite Maggie Hope. I think Maggie is the best when she is allowed to be a spy with her supporting cast of characters around her. I look forward to the next book (anyone know when it is coming out?).

I liked this book, because I always enjoy books in this series. But it wasn‘t as thrilling and un-put-downable as earlier books in this series.
