Saw this and had a good chuckle. Hope y‘all do too
Think of the song “A whole new world” from the Disneyw movie, Aladdin, and that, in a nutshell, how I feel about this book. lol Definitely a pick and worth the read.
Kinda sad that this tidbit of history has to laid out for people to make a point, then again, it‘s more sad that people don‘t know their history and can think for themselves anymore.
Who knew that the topic of soil could be so engaging!
Excited to jump into this book.
I‘d go into details, but honestly, it‘s bleeping Joel Salatin! So it‘s a no brainer to give him a try.
Interesting read because you‘re supposed to just read one devotional page here and there and I‘m not very religious. But a few pages definitely stuck with me and I would definitely want to recommend it. The author actually gave me this book out of the blue and honestly I was going to keep it, but ended up giving to a friend going through some hard times. My friend ended up ordering a copy to send to her sister. It‘s a gift that keeps giving!
That awesome moment when a local author gives you a copy of their first published book. I‘m not very religious but found a few spots in this that I really spoke to me.
I wonder how much crap would be passed as fact if we all did our own research 🧐
A wonderfully insightful book the healing power of meat. I went with the audible version because it was narrated by the author. Ended up enjoying the book 3 times already.
A Great and engaging read! Couldn‘t put it down and didn‘t want it to end. lol
This is a pretty good “drop the mic” moment. 🎤
There is a lot of information being thrown at you when you read this. But it‘s very enjoyable
“Industrial mono-cropping, though it can temporarily feed a lot of people some cheap calories, is a horror show to nature.”

I‘ve come to realize that people aren‘t taught to think for themselves anymore....
While this book was a little bit repetitive, overall it was an enlightening read. It definitely answered some questions that I‘ve pondered and asked about in vain over the years. Now if I could only find a Local doctor that was more into the “let thy food be thy medicine” philosophy instead of the same old “S.A.D diet and pills to fix it all” type thinking that has us all morbidity obese.. *sigh* If only....
🤯 Wait, What?! #very #interesting #read can‘t wait to talk to my doctor about this...
This particular walk through history had a very interesting perspective that really got me thinking differently.
Thank goodness for audiobooks or just don‘t know how I‘d get through some days.
Hard to believe that some US states have made it illegal to store water on your property...as if the state owns the rain. 🙄
Heads up!!! If you get this book as an audiobook, it‘s narrated by Joel himself!! This is fantastic because it feels like your having a conversation with an old friend as he blows your mind with rightful outrage over the American food system. Then he leaves you wanting to hunt down every local farmer just to shake their hand. (& support by buying their local food as much as possible)
This was an interesting look into what our food system is and what it could be. Real world facts based on personal experience of a farmer and his family producing food using a design science to maximize sustainably and heal the land they have while making a profit.
This book left me feeling inspired to plant way more food than I normally do and expand my shopping to more local farms than just the veggie ones I normally frequent.
A properly designed key line swale and pocket pond system should be designed to capture and hold a region‘s maximum rainfall event. It is entirely possible by design, to prevent all surface runoff from agricultural lands. Think of the implications of this. If every farm properly captured and held ALL of its surface water, there would be no flash floods.
I honestly can‘t think of a better way to spend an evening than reading by the campfire my kids started while my wife grills burgers for dinner.
Not only is annual agriculture not feeding the rapidly increasing population, it is destroying ecosystems world while doing so. The current agricultural system is dependent on extra ordinary labor or cheap fossil fuel‘s we‘re increasingly scares mind inputs in order to not feed the world. It contributes to the greenhouse effect and the in equitable distribution of wealth worldwide while still not beating the world.
Restoration agriculture is farming in nature‘s image to produce the food, fuels and fibers that feed the world.

“What you eat and how that food is grown is responsible for nearly every single crisis that humanity faces today.”
-Mark shepherd.
This book is basically one big middle finger to government! 🖕If only more people would stand by their local farmers and tell the government to get rid of their overbearing red tape let more people farm like this genius, then we wouldn‘t have to worry so much about global warming, top soil erosion or a host of other problems. Great read!
🎧 While I wish the author also narrated this book because his passion is addictive to listen to, I understand that he couldn‘t. Other than that, this is one hell of an engaging and well thought out book. I‘m truly glad to find quite a few questions that I‘ve always asked actually answered and my instincts confirmed by a medical professional. If you want to blow your mind about nutrition this book is definitely for you.
