Pickpick

The creativity of Whitehead's reinterpretation of the railroad actually being underground is brilliant, Cora's journey left me constantly amazed and the chapters from other characters' points of view were perfect additions. This entire book is poignant yet painful and re-tells a story we've all heard the abridged, white-washed, version of in a new way. It makes the reader really stop and think about slavery and racism in a meaningful way.

Mehso-so

The plot line of the story meanders following a slow winding route somewhat akin to that of the main characters. I won't lie, at times it was challenging to keep going with this book and I found myself tempted to pick up something that held my attention more easily. However, the prose quite poetic that, if given a bit of patience, it is well worth reading. I enjoyed it and found myself happy to have spent the time reading it.
