Very fascinating story. Greatly enjoyed reading and am a huge Colm Toibin fan!

Although not a historical period I normally gravitate towards this novel tells the tale of two vastly different lifestyles of the Deep South during slavery, but revolt from both slaves themselves, and the daughter of a rich, prominent white man who does not want to follow in the family footsteps ties both together!

It took about 15 months after I first bought this book to pick it back up and start reading it and I could NOT put it down! It‘s an immersive tale with unexpected twists and turns.
