Sweet Rivalry | Terrie Gilespie
Pickpick

Unforgettable! A lot of hurt, secrets, and insecurities that have to be worked through. There is also a lot of hope, healing, and fun.

I laughed often, and wanted to knock a few heads together.

The pacing seemed a little fast, but believable.

Reasonable insecurity and jealousy, healing, and shock at why each other feels jealous and insecure. You might see yourself. Reactions, based on assumptions that may be wrong.

This story immerses the reader fully into a dramatic portion of history, and does it well. You feel like you are there in the middle of everything.

There is a lot of pain and heartache here. I enjoyed watching Daniel begin to mature. He's got a ways to go, looking forward to more in series. He is a great example of circumstances causing poor choices, but then when given half an opportunity, making a better choice.

Dial E for Endearment | Heidi Gray McGill

My favorite quote might be

”You‘re on the air, What brings JOY into your life today?”

because it‘s something we all should think about. A total paradigm shift, if we‘ll let it be. This question, asked daily, can help rewire the pathways of your brain, to spend less time on the negatives.

Cam is a guy I‘d like to be friends with. Yes, he‘s handy, & has an amazing dog, but also, he listens, and can laugh when things go wrong, instead of getting angry.

Everly & her mom have very different perspectives of her childhood, and when they finally talk through them, there‘s the beginning of healing. Whether or not you‘re able to have this kind of talk with your own mom, this may soothe a few raw nerves!

The kids thought something was wrong with me. I kept laughing out loud and crying too!

Paul and Lucie were amazing main characters, with depth and heart, and courage, and I wish I could sit down and talk to them about their experiences. But 4 year old Josie was my favorite. She stole my heart, and will probably keep it for many years.

I received an advance copy of this book from #NetGalley and chose to review it here. All thoughts are my own.

The Barabas Legacy | M.D. House
Pickpick

This is a stellar continuation of an amazing story of the early church.

I couldn't put the book down, and was so impressed by the transformation in multiple characters, from Barabbas to the roman soldier who listened because he was falling in love.
The way the characters listened for and leaned into the Holy Spirit's guidance was very inspiring, and a really good example for us all.l thoughts are my own.
