I looooooove these books. Book 2 in a trilogy, these keep me on the edge of my seat. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a pretty standard dystopic/sci fi ya book about what happens after humans destroy the earth and overpopulation is regulated by only allowing families to have one child. Rowan is a “second child,” a twin to her brother. I was hopeful for a little more and it had some elements I like which I will take with me to try the next book, Elites of Eden.

A great premise falls a bit flat for me re believability and character 3-dimensionality in Future Shock. Still a fun read. Like a bag of tasty potato chips. Ate them all in one sitting, then felt a little gross lol but would do it again. 😂 I...might not recommend this one unless you want something fast and brainless. Heck, we all need that sometimes. 🤷🏽‍♀️ So, if that's you—go for it!

For me, this one was not quite as good as the first book in the series, but it was still a fast-paced, fun sci-fi listen. I like the characters, love the future view of Earth humans, and appreciate that these books are not filled with some of the more common YA cliches (read: I didn‘t roll my eyes until they hurt). 😂

I‘ve got book 3 on hold. 👍🏻

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

Melissa_J I‘ve got the first on ready to go! I‘m glad you like the series. 3mo
JanuarieTimewalker13 Good to know! Thanks for posting. I‘ve been curious about Claudia Gray. I‘m currently trying my first Kiersten White! 3mo

Finally! If I don‘t get to get this (brick) before the end of my holidays, I doubt I will find time once school goes back. Plus keen as, of course. This pair are right at the peak of their genre. #currentlyreading #preview #mayrso2019 #loveozya #yascifi

This was a really fast paced dystopian YA thriller that I enjoyed. It had a good arc and the story really moved. Strong characters and really great on audio. Definitely interested to see where it goes!

I absolutely love dystopian future novels. This one, however, did not blow me away. I think it was the elementary writing style (hey, I know it‘s YA). I loved the beginning of the book. I love the character development of Rowan. In the end, I felt disappointed and did not feel the urge to go out and buy the second book in the series. Would recommend if you are new to dystopian future novels. I just kept wanting more and this didn‘t deliver.

3.5 Stars

Although it features a typical, post-apocalyptic dystopia, although it isn't completely original, is a bit predictable and pretty slow, but it is an entertaining read. It has great development of important ecological themes

I enjoyed this YA sci-fi!

✔ Intriguing plot - takes place in a dying bioship called Cyclo. The crew evacuated except for Hana. No one knows of her existence in the ship.
✔ Suspense, mystery, a pinch of horror
✔ Smooth storytelling
✔ Atmospheric writing

❌ Characters (except Hana) - underdeveloped, somewhat flaccid

Rating: 4.5🌟
