If you find philosophy boring I encourage you to read about Peter Abelard's steamy love affair and the tragic conclusion. It's pretty wild. #nonfiction #history #philosophy

Murray makes some astute observations. He tackles contemporary and age old issues. His work is always engrossing and contentious! He reads the audio book so you get a real sense of his voice.

We‘re rotting from within. It‘s the end of the empire. And we shouldn‘t rejoice. As our internal critics focus on only the negatives and go so far a mis-categorize and mis-represent aspects of western culture to its detriment. This book reminds us of the good of western culture that could be lost. It‘s difficult to walk away from this book without the realization that the goal is nothing less than the destruction of western culture.

“We are so angry at each other right now. That anger is palpable. Where did it come from? It came from the destruction of a common vision. We used to see each other as brothers and sisters. Not the one percent versus the 99%… we weren't enemies. We were a community.” Read more to find out his solution.

It was an interesting read. It got a little intense with the cultural differences and spoke more about the culture that doesn't agree with American culture at a point. But there are some really good eye opening points.

I wasn‘t sure which way I wanted to go with my next nonfiction read. I went browsing on @Alisnazzy ‘s shelves, and this jumped out at me. I‘m hoping it‘s as good as it sounds.
