I gave it a good shot but just didn‘t really care about the characters and no mystery to keep me hanging on. Anyone else?

My thoughts here were all over the place. I wasn‘t keenly interested in the characters until Donkey (sweet reason for her name) took center stage at chapter 3. I thought the story might veer to a right-wing heavy-handed story on abortion which I wasn‘t interested in. It didn‘t; however, the concern impacted my experience. I got all the way to the end before realizing I really liked this and all its complicated relationships.
New books at our library. I‘m partial to the cover art of The Waters!
#SummerSpecial
When I think of a #boat I think about Willy Potts & his rowboat & the floatilla of unusual boats of the “summerfolk” in this book. One of my favorite childhood picture books, I bought a copy off of Ebay a few years ago & the charm of this story is still there.💚
“Swamp people are the last outlaws in this country, kid!”
A genre I rly rly enjoy, and is truly under appreciated: the Florida fiction. Florida is a magical place where some very different shit happens. I do like books that take place in the south in general, but I gotta say, FL stories are one of a kind, and have a certain feel to them. This one was pretty cool.

A day late but it‘s been a week.😬
Here‘s a whole bunch of books from my stacks, each with a #SummerCover (the titles & the vibes) including cookbooks, children‘s & YA books, novels, a foodie/travel memoir & the tagged book, which is one of my favorite childhood picture books.
I spent most of today reading this book. A fairy tale set in an England at the beginning of the 20th century in a village still following the old ways. The nearby swamp is full of dangerous beings who steal hands and try to lure people to their deaths. The story begins with Briony‘s confession at her trial as a witch. I couldn‘t put it down because I had to know the ending. But it‘s a bit too much Brothers Grimm and not enough Disney
Happy Earth 🌍 Day ! And TGIF. I was reading an article on books that are hidden gems. Books the author loves but not many people have read. This book was one of her recommendations. So thanks to Libby I was able to borrow the ebook. 💚🐉🌍
