Good reading month, with a lot of manga.
Still reading the Blue Period series. Even if some books are less interesting than others, I really enjoy following the journey of the main character through art school in Japan.
Why I love it so much? Because it shows you the actual struggle of artists, the self-doubt, the good and bad sides, with at moments, the main character hating art.

Here is my June wrap-up... A lot of books read, a lot of short books too.
I keep on with the manga series Blue Period, while some books are less interesting, the book 10 was good. I love how this manga shows how hard the creation process is. I'll definitely keep on reading this series till the end.
Also read a lot of children's books. I highly recommend Slow Down, interesting content and beautifully illustrated ;)

Ultraman, the defender of Tokyo, has been missing for decades. Teenager Shinjiro soon discovers that his father is the one who merged with ‘the being of light‘ to become Ultraman, when a new threat arises after many years of peace. He also learns that his penchant for never getting hurt is due to his parentage. Will he inherit the mantle of Earth's savior? Decent, but just the start of a more interesting story, I hope.

I'm really loving this series! It's such a good take on vampires and doesn't shy away from morality, ethics, or how dangerous the vampires (or devils here) can be. No fluffy easily controlled creatures here.

ShelleyBooksie Is this a graphic novel? 2mo
CoveredInRust @ShelleyBooksie Yes! Specifically a manga :) 13 volumes long. 2mo

The art in this one is GORGEOUS and is definitely carrying it for me. The story is very much a love story and is just okay for me for now. It's only 10 vols (or 5 omnis) long so definitely doable still.

xicanti Mori‘s art is great! It‘s even more impressive in A BRIDE‘S STORY. And oh, how she loves her nudes, though I don‘t think she trots them out until a few vols into this series. 2mo
CoveredInRust @xicanti A Bride's Story is absolutely on my list to check out! And I've heard about that particular fascination 🤣 This was the first 2 and I just finished. They haven't shown up yet. 2mo

Urasawa is HEAVY. And political. And convoluted. That being said… Monster was better executed. This one started off strong with an amazing premise (somewhat on point these days), but then… it just ended. And to just be cut short after (technically) 22 volumes? WTF. NOTHING is explained.

I found out that there is a one volume sequel: 21st Century Boys. Manga fans… do I get it?

I‘m not sure what to rate… ⭐️⭐️⭐️?

I'm actually behind in reading the series. That isn't stopping me from buying them as the new ones get released, however.

My reading is all over the place these days—very hard to settle on something but I was really entertained by this story. Ken Kaneki is excited when a girl he likes asks him out. His excitement turns to horror when he discovers she‘s a ghoul & is mostly interested in eating him. 😬 And then he wakes up half human/ghoul & what that means will change everything for Ken. Dark manga at its best & an interesting take on the ghoul/zombie story.
