On my 3rd time reading this thing within 3 years. Looks like it‘s becoming a yearly thing to reread this series. I mean hey, it‘s only my all time fav fantasy series.

Lord of Light | Roger Zelazny

Why did I like this? I shouldn‘t have... but I did? Zelazny is better as a short story novelist for sure, he seems terrified of scene descriptors or even coherent plot structures sometimes. But his ideas are fantastic, his dialogue poetic and he isn‘t afraid to blend sci-fi and fantasy into a surreal setting.

Overall, it makes me think of future mythology and I might even read it again, now that it makes more sense.

“You would like me to strike you, wouldn‘t you, Buddha? It would make feel superior. Unfortunately, I‘m a sadist and will not do it.”
Sam laughed.
“Touché, Death,” he said.

Finally found a perfectly formatted version and added to kindle. Amazon did not have it in the complete edition and I would have had to get them book by book. Time to reread this, as it is my favorite fantasy series.

Forgot to upload this: There was a local vintage sale and books were 25 cents a piece. I had two dollars on me and decided to select ones with covers I liked.

Hello! #GroupS for Science Fiction!

Any ideas what you want to pick for your book yet? Anything you‘ve read already that we should avoid?
Basically just opening it up for brainstorming.

jessinikkip My gosh I have absolutely no idea yet... I'm really down for anything though. I dont mind reading something I've already read before 3y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @jessinikkip I don‘t have any idea either, and I don‘t mind re-reading something either. But not everyone feels the same....so I thought it best to check in. At least we won‘t all pick and mail the same book around. 3y
Dragonfairykats I know which book I have as long as it's ok with you. I honestly don't know many Sci-Fi books. This is a new genre for me. 3y

Dragonfairykats And hi!! 3y
jessinikkip @Riveted_Reader_Melissa absolutely, I plan on digging through my shelves tonight and coming up with one. Any subjects or anything that are a no for anyone? 3y
jessinikkip Hi @Dragonfairykats and that book about the Warlock sounds good! 3y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @jessinikkip I haven‘t found a hard no for me yet in Sci-fi, so I‘m good. 3y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Dragonfairykats I have not read that one yet, so sounds good to me! 3y
Dragonfairykats @jessinikkip I would prefer as little overt sex as possible. I like romance and don't mind heat. But I don't need things spelled out for me. Close the door, please!😄 Also, please no harem or reverse harem. 😯 The amount of them out there boggles my mind! And I'm glad you like the sound of it! It's the first of a series I fell in love with as a teenager, 26 years ago 🤗 3y
jessinikkip @Dragonfairykats I agree! If I want erotica I know where to find it, and I'd prefer that anywhere but my sci-fi or horror novels 3y
Bookish_AF I‘m up for anything too! I will also definitely start searching around my shelves and TBR and see what I‘ve got. Have you guys done #LMPBC before? I‘m a veteran at it now and it‘s great fun ! 😊 @Dragonfairykats that book sounds good to me! 3y
Dragonfairykats @whippoorwill815 @jessinikkip @Riveted_Reader_Melissa. Nope, this is my first time doing #LMPBC I don't think I got the email from @suvata with addresses yet... 3y
Bookish_AF @Dragonfairykats I just got it a little while ago, maybe check your spam folder just in case 3y
Dragonfairykats @whippoorwill815 that's exactly where it was!! 3y
jessinikkip @whippoorwill815 I have done this before, I just missed the last couple. This is like my 3rd time 3y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @whippoorwill815 Yes, I did it 2 years ago with group of all Nonfiction books. And we just repeated with the same group this summer, so I was ready to try it with another type of book. 3y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Dragonfairykats So glad you found it! 3y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Dragonfairykats Totally agree there, thanks for bringing that up! I hadn‘t even thought of that and I know it‘s abundant. I immediately thought of...anyone specifically dislike robots, time travel, clones, space travel, something genre specific. 😂 3y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Ok here are a few on my to-read list, I‘ll post them individually so I can tag each one. Only the first is a re-read for me, the rest are ones I have not read yet. I read this one a few years ago, but I need to re-read it before I pick up the next in the series. Just let me know if you‘ve read them already or have a preference based on the descriptions. 3y
jessinikkip @Riveted_Reader_Melissa they all sound good, but six wakes and planetfall seemed to stick out most to me. 3y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa ^ I should probably retag @Dragonfairykats and @whippoorwill815 or they may not see this. 3y
Bookish_AF I was also thinking of suggesting The Fifth Season! The others you have selected also look good, I actually love space stories! And I haven't read any of those.
Besides The Fifth Season, the tagged book is another I was thinking of.
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @whippoorwill815 I‘d be fine with either of those! I hadn‘t heard of the Unkindness of Ghosts, but it sounds very interesting. 3y
jessinikkip I agree, Unkindness of Ghosts sounds interesting! 3y
Dragonfairykats I like the sounds of Planetfall and An Unkindness of Ghosts the best, with The Fifth Season next @whippoorwill815 @jessinikkip @Riveted_Reader_Melissa 3y
jessinikkip I was considering a few books 3y
jessinikkip @whippoorwill815 @Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Dragonfairykats Let me know what y'all think or if y'all hate all of them lol 3y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa They all look good to me, the only one of that group that I‘ve read is Jurassic Park, but I definitely don‘t mind rereading that one either, it‘s been a few years. And on the dinosaur theme, I‘m adding Survive to my eventual tbr list no matter what we end up picking. It reminds me a bit of the British TV show Primeval. Have you ever seen that @jessinikkip (edited) 3y
Bookish_AF I would also be good with any of those! I have read Jurassic Park before but it was a loooooonnnngggg time ago and wouldn't mind rereading it either. 3y
Dragonfairykats @jessinikkip I read Jurassic Park before the first movie came out, so I have no trouble rereading it! I also like the sound of Survive. @whippoorwill815 @Riveted_Reader_Melissa 3y
jessinikkip It sounds like Survive may just be a good pick! And its been on my TBR for a bit so it'll be good to read it 3y
Bookish_AF And I will go with An Unkindness of Ghosts! I'm excited for this round! 3y
jessinikkip Yay!!! We picked quicker than any other group Ive been in LOL 3y
Dragonfairykats I'm excited for my first time! 3y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @jessinikkip Guess we‘re just awesome! 😂 3y

I‘ve been reading or re-reading a lot of Ellison stories since his death. This collection includes “Brillo,” the story that led to the “Future Cop” lawsuit in the ‘70s. Interesting tale.

My first ever #scifi book which I read when I was in my early teens. I loved it! There was no internet then so I didn't know any better when it came to the sexism and misogyny. It's what was done in movies and TV often, so I just thought it was usual plotting. I'll have to re-read to see how I feel about it now!

(This was unearthed from my book collection under my bed at home in the 🇵🇭)
