Lorelei packed all up went to leave her, then spoke her mind and ended up staying and her long game worked. She ended up married to Elias for 55 years & five kids and Elias lived to be 86 years old.
The letters were truth.

CoffeeNBooks I think Elias realized that he and Lorelai had a very good friendship, which is a great foundation on which to start a marriage. I'm glad Lorelai didn't give up on him. 14mo

mollyrotondo So I actually wasn‘t happy that Lorelai stayed. He treated her like garbage while he stayed true and faithful to a woman he met once. And then the day after he marries Lorelai he writes another‘s letter to Josephine saying he will still hope for a day when he can press his lips against hers. He marries Lorelai because she‘s there but still keeps lusts after Josephine. Lorelai should have said goodbye. 14mo

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I'm glad for Elias that he was able to move forward with a good life. I'm happy for Lorelai that she didn't NEED to fully confront Elias that she stuck it out because she wanted to be with him. I'm angry for her like @mollyrotondo that he still pines for Josephine's kiss. @DebinHawaii That would've been the perfect monologue though! 13mo
