panI thought this book had a great concept; six different authors recounting the lives of Henry VIII wives, another author to recount Henry's side of each story. I wanted to like this book but, I did not. The stories just did not flow. I struggled getting through the stories, the recount of Henry's part felt like it was just a repeat. There was nothing exciting about this book, I would recommend a big pass on this one.

pickI haven‘t read any Tudor historical fiction in a while, although I read so much over the years, so it‘s sometimes hard to find new books, so I was delighted to find this one. This one gave me some Six: The Musical vibes. Great individual narrations that really captured each queen uniquely. It was also interesting comparing their impressions of each other. I especially enjoyed Henry VIII‘s bits of inner monologue thrown in there.
panThe King‘s Concubine is the story of Alice Perrers the infamous mistress of King Edward III. There‘s no doubt Alice Perrers was a strong, powerful woman but this is my least favourite book by Anne O‘Brien. I found the whole story frustrating, and even sometimes clumsy. I just could not believe this was written by one of they best historical fiction authors. Sadly I would not recommend this book.

pickThe sweetest spell. The author is Suzanne Selfors. The book is about a girl named Emmalin who escapes death twice the first time the day she was born and when her whole village was washed out by a flood. Soon she finds out she can make chocolate from cream. She has this crush on a boy in her village but after the flood she starts to like someone else.

I absolutely loved reading this. I enjoy Royal history very much. Props to these women because there is absolutely no way I could‘ve been the Queen and wife of King Henry VIII. These women were certainly brave and strong and really did walk on the thinnest of eggshells. 2 divorced, 2 beheaded, 1 died of childbirth, and the last one was widowed by Henry VIII.
I am loving this so far!! We hear each of his 6 wives from her point of view as well as Henry VIII‘s point of view. It helps my understanding of what their lives were really like.
