(2024) Reread in anticipation of the second book coming out in early March. I have recommended this book endlessly the last few years and for good reason.

(2018) First read as ARC. Screams to the whole world to drop everything and read this book. Awards received throughout the following year.

This was the first book that came to mind when I saw this question. A beautiful story of a father & daughter traveling in a school bus. Their story, the stories of those they meet & the lessons learned are wonderfully written.

Karisimo Great minds….! 8mo
rubyslippersreads Does this count as a (Yellow Brick) Road trip? 😂👠🌈 8mo

This is an excellent MG book of a father and daughter trying to outrun their sadness. They meet lots of fun characters along the way!

Read4life I picked the same book. 🤓 8mo

4 ⭐This was an interesting read. Papa and son go to work on a Saturday. They have many yards that they have to tend and Papa tells the son that they can tell time by the water jug. When the water jug is empty, they get to go home. However, son did a little bit more with water than drink it. He splashes his back, he waters the pets, and when the water jug is empty it‘s only 10:30 am papa has to admit that it‘s not a magical water jug.

LibrarianRyan It was just a way to make the day a fun adventure for Papa and son. This book is quite lovely and very smart. It shows a life of hard work, and that that work has to get done. I love this book and I love the illustrations that also prove you don‘t have to color in the lines to make a great art. 9mo

Stacey reads at recess! I did too! 😄 #CharactersReading

I love this book. Stacey starts a reading club in the library with students whose first languages aren't English--so not only do they get to learn & practice English, they learn words from other languages from each other. 😊 I wish all schools had reading clubs like that.

I remember my Mom telling me, when I was little, that homeless people were mostly men. But organizations like the UN say that more women then men live in poverty. So when I glanced at a kid‘s book and saw that it was about the first shelter for women, that was OPENED IN 1974. I had to pick it up. We visited the moon before we opened a shelter for women. I‘m going to need more books about Kip Tiernan, if anyone can rec them.
