The bingo gods were not with me for this month‘s #bookspinbingo! I did get bingo, but look at all those almost ones!!

That‘s what I get for reading my feelings more than ever in February. At least I finished by #bookspin book

TheAromaofBooks Yay!! Looking great!! And those bingos can be astoundingly allusive! 😂 4mo

Not sure what I think of this one. I wasn't expecting the dark turn that it took. It's also much too long.

It's been on my TBR for over a decade so I'm glad I finally check it off.

#12booksof2024 @Andrew65
March saw me finishing the very good Laidlaw trilogy. Laidlaw is a curious detective who makes few friends within the Glasgow police force where he works. I am curious to read the Ian Rankin book in which he reimagines Laidlaws early days.

Andrew65 I really need to read these. I cannot recommend the Ian Rankin books highly enough. 6mo

Pickpick

I read a lot of crime novels, + it is rare to read a genre bk in which the themes + quality of writing stand out, but this 3rd in the Laidlaw series was remarkable. Several scenes stood out, including laidlaw holding the hand of the dying mother of a criminal because she reflects a generation of Glasgow women. The story is about the death of the detective's brother + is fused with reflections on family and the fragility of life. Definitely 5*
