#NewYearNewYou Day 7: An odd but #HappyCouple. Fats‘ review: “On a lovely Spring day, a dog was out and about when his gaze fell upon a cat. His heart thumped so hard in his chest that he needed to lie down for bit. His beating heart could not take it anymore so he declared his love for the cat (who climbed up a tree).” More here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-hsJ

This RF book is another one by my absolute favorite author, Robert Munsch. This book absolutely must be approached with caution when reading to children as it deals with the heavy themes of aging, illness, and death. This story follows a mother and son as they grow through their years and face many changes, although one thing remains constant for them: their love for each other #ucflae3414f19

JennaMichelleCohn Not-so-fun fact: Munsch wrote this book in honor of the two children they lost to miscarriages. https://www.teachingchildrenphilosophy.org/BookModule/LoveYouForever this website, along with https://www.edu.gov.mb.ca/k12/cur/physhlth/hs_k-8/gr2less3part1.pdf help educators teach students about the importance of love and kindness, as well as the harder things like death and loss. 2mo
JennaMichelleCohn To help guide along with the above sites, UDL 9.3, “Develop self-assessment and reflection,” works well here. ESOL strategy 42, “Have students use timelines to arrange and sequence important facts and information,” would be great here since the story takes place over roughly 50 or 60 years. This book would be great for RA or S. 2mo
YvetteE What a touching story and background. Thank you for sharing. 2mo

Erinehart I will definitely have to check this book out! 2mo
Lrobertson This is the book I remember my mother reading to me when I was little. I still cry every time I read it! 2mo
DrSpalding This is a wonderful book to read aloud around Mother‘s Day. It is also a great book to share with friends that have baby boys. If you are brave enough, sing the repetitive parts! This provides an engaging and interactive read aloud opportunity. 1mo

As I was looking through some of my Mum‘s boxes today I found this lovely book with a note attached to it. The note read “Now don‘t you wish you‘d let me teach you German?” 🤣She always liked having the last word! It was published in 1928.

rather_be_reading haha!! so cool to have a book in German! 4mo
Come-read-with-me @rather_be_reading Would be cooler if I could actually read it! 4mo

Come-read-with-me @Leftcoastzen They are 🙂 The pages are old, yellow, and thin, but knowing that my Mum turned those pages and read the beautiful words for me makes them a treasure. 4mo

when the son ends up having his own child and singing the repeated song, “i‘ll love you forever. i‘ll like you for always. as long as i‘m living, my baby you‘ll be” it was super sweet and a good end to the story.

as I was reading this story I couldn‘t help but picture myself reading it to my own children one day. The mom really loves her son, and the son loves her back, and you can tell how special of a feeling it is by reading.

This is an adorable story of a little boy growing up. I remember reading it as a kid, and my parents remember it too. It was published in 1986, and is still being read often which I think is cool. It has a soothing song in it that repeats throughout the story- the mom sings it to him. Eventually the story progresses long enough to where the roles switch: mom is old and needs taken care of, son is now capable adult thanks to mom.
