What Is Love? | Mac Barnett

“The farmer told me love is a seed.
The soldier told me love is a blade.
But the cart driver said, 'No, it's a donkey.'“

What Is Love? | Mac Barnett

This is a great book to teach children to be grateful for what they have. They can be grateful to have a house, have food, or have lots of family members. It also teaches children to see from multiple perspectives. Love is something different for everyone.

What Is Love? | Mac Barnett
Pickpick

“What Is Love?“ written by Mac Barnett, published in 2021. This book is about a boy who is curious and asks his grandmother what is love. She tells him that she cannot answer that and he must go out into the world to find the answer. Every person he asks, replies that love is something they have or related to their occupation. He disagrees with all of them. Finally he goes home and learns that love is what he has, and love is his grandmother.

I would use the book to talk about different ways to show love to other people.

Review:
The author uses color to make the images feel finished and connected. The use of color is also used to convey the feelings of the characters. The illustrations seem to have texture to them which makes them feel more real. Children will see the images and feel like they are right there with the characters.
