Today's First Chapter Friday book with the 6th graders was The Girl Who Drank the Moon! I LOVE this book so much! It was really fun to share it with the kids! 😀💕📚 #librarylove #librariansoflitsy #FirstChapterFriday

Louise Do the kids then have to read the rest of the book themselves? Is this to peak their interest in reading? 3y
Branwen @Louise Yes, exactly! We read the first chapter (or two!) and hype up the book and hope they get excited enough to come check it out at the library! We set up new displays every week featuring the book we read, plus others like it! It's super fun! 3y
Louise That‘s a great idea! I know I would have wanted to read them ALL when I was a schoolgirl! 3y
Meaw_catlady Love love love this book!!! 3y

Read a bit of Coraline to the 6th graders today for this week's First Chapter Friday! It was fun doing the voices for Miss Spink and Mr Bobinski! 😁 I think I've used this book for three different programs this month! 🤣😂 I can't help it! I love it and I want others to love it too! 😀💕📚 #librarylove #librariansoflitsy #FirstChapterFriday

GingerAntics It‘s a great book to love!!! 4y
Branwen @GingerAntics I think so too! 😁 4y
GingerAntics Did you hear the story about his editor thinking it was too scary, so he made a deal with her, if her kids were scared he would t publish it as a children‘s book, but they weren‘t so it was published as a children‘s book and became so beloved... and what the now grown daughter told Neil about it? (edited) 4y

Branwen @GingerAntics Whoa! No I have never heard that story! 😲 What did the grown daughter tell him? 4y
GingerAntics @branwen she told Neil that the story actually really scared her and her sister, but they REALLY wanted to know what happened, so they didn‘t say anything so their mother would keep reading it to them. 🤣 So apparently it‘s just scary enough for children to still want to know what happens. 4y
Branwen @GingerAntics Bahahahaha! Omg that's too perfect! 😂🤣👏 4y
GingerAntics @Branwen right?! It was so perfect. In the end, her mother was right, but so was Neil in saying it would be okay. 4y
