The narrator change from Deuchler to Pearlman is definitely changing my enjoyment of this series. Might have to switch to reading paper or ebook on this series. Enjoyed Deuchler‘s narration more.

Enjoy this series. Liked seeing the family together and watching MC interact with her mother. Enjoyed her defense of her sister‘s marital prospects in the face of their mom‘s aspirations for them.

I debated on watching this, reading the text, or audiolistening. Chose to #audiolisten and the audio made it interesting. Enjoyed how the different viewpoints developed and wove together. It also made me want to try black cake. 😂

Entertaining #audiolisten full of intrigue and blackmail. I liked how the backstory was slowly unveiled explaining the tensions between the characters and how perception and reality were different for each one. Seeing the caste system and cultural references in action were interesting as well.

Rambo and Nurse Ratched! 😂😂😂 Loved the audio for this one. It really brought all the characters to life. Looking forward to Klune‘s next one.

Creepy, but in a good way! At first I feared this was going to be like the movie Chuckie, but not at all. Blended different genres together for an interesting and creepy book. When the siblings started sharing their different memories and realizing how their pasts overlapped and saw things from the other‘s point of view, the story really evolved.

Historical novel about two sisters in the Jim Crow era South. Marigold and Violet are sisters, each with their own man problems. For very different reasons, they both have to leave town, hoping for a better future against the odds. Liked their personal growth and found family connections throughout the novel.

Interesting book. We have a somewhat unreliable narrator, lots of horror elements, plus a lot of social commentary on class, race, memory, community, and belonging. There were some things that worked much better than others, but there was a distinct dark atmosphere throughout and the horror element was good.

she.hearts.horror Ye, I think that‘s the best way to put it : some things worked better than others. I really wanted to like it more. I also wanted them to dig deeper into some of the themes presented as it relates to the friendship ( and what it wasn‘t). 9mo
