This book is lovely, but a bit hard to read. The story is of a girl who collects words and shares them with the world to help combat conflict, boredom, and carelessness. What really makes this story is the illustrations. But the illustrations are what make it hard to read. It‘s the way they flow on the page and seem like they are cut out of other things.

rather_be_reading sounds like an interesting premises though! 5y

Mehso-so

While Sonja Wimmer's art is absolutely breathtaking, the texts in Cyparissus and John's Whistle are too explicit, lacking in subtlety - but it could be that something is lost in translation. But The Word Collector which Wimmer wrote and illustrated herself is definitely a tad more developed and wondrous compared the other two where she collaborated with different authors.
