Entertaining, poignant & surprising, this is a brilliantly written memoir of an unusual childhood by one of Britain's most-loved comedians, Alexei Sayle.

In other book-buying news, I've finally bought one of Comrade Alexei's memoirs (that he's not on TV more is a prime example of media bias 🧐), and because I have a few books of ancient Chinese poetry but only one contemporary volume, I've bought another - an impulse purchase, but the publisher, Bloodaxe, is usually dependable.

Comedian Alexei Sayle's communist parents took him across Eastern Europe for holidays with the Party in the sixties.
Beyond surreal. #setineasterneurope (but also in #Liverpool)
