Treating a mansion full of former child stars on the road to recovery is the tallest order of her career--especially when one of them turns up dead while the cameras are still rolling. In a house full of narcissists vying for the spotlight, everyone's hiding something...including Laurel. An investigation could expose a past she'd rather keep buried. But among the attention-starved patients, only one of them is a predator. And Laurel is skilled at spotting a predator when she sees one.As she hunts a killer in her present, the unsettling truths of Laurel's past are forced into the light. But this time, she'll face her demons head on. She'll stop at nothing to expose a murderer, even if it means risking everything she holds dear.

2⭐
• murder mystery • light suspense thriller • psychological • light reality TV vibes • addiction • narcissistic characters • personal demons • multiple POVs •

I found this difficult to engage with, and even when I managed to get engaged, it was hard to follow. The whole thing felt scattered and disjointed.

Saskia Maarleveld handles most of the narration, so if you enjoy her voice, this should work for you.

Pickpick

4 Stars • One in Four by Lucinda Berry is a gripping, fast-paced thriller that pulls you in and doesn‘t let go. It follows Dr. Laurel Harlow, a therapist on a reality show where ex-child stars tackle addiction under the spotlight. When a murder hits the set, the twists and dark secrets keep you glued to the page. Berry‘s psych background makes the trauma and drama feel raw and real, and the alternating timelines add a juicy layer of suspense.

So, the synopsis of this story makes it sound like a locked room mystery where we‘re going to explore a murder of a celebrity on a reality tv rehab show. Well…we hardly even step into the rehab show and don‘t even meet all of the celebrities! It starts with a murder and instantly moves on to other people in a totally different direction than I thought it was going. Just not very satisfying for me overall, although not a badly written story. 🌟🌟🌟
