Ying presents a delightful and lighthearted collection of sketches that combine color and traditional mica pigments. These artworks portray a small life filled with laughter and surrounded by the care of nature in the beautiful landscapes of Yunnan and Guizhou, depicting a wonderful journey of growth and exploration. An opportunity to fall into the fantasy of communicating and adventuring with animals, Ying introduces us to the beginnings of a girl’s friendships and some valuable lessons learned along the way.

I am delighted and grateful to officially present Ying! Special thanks to Cleo Li-Schwartz for her editing and guidance. And to Dali Wu herself for her brilliant, beautiful paintings which brought this vision to life. And for the translation (coming soon!) to honor the influences and peoples who have inspired much of the book. I thoroughly enjoyed creating this tiny tale, and I hope that all who read the story of Ying will enjoy it as well!
