Batman and Superman are on a quest to train the mysterious new hero Boy Thunder…but what’s that in the dark? A faint noise. Sounds like a laugh? Uh-oh…the Joker is here, and he’s got his own plans for a super-powered sidekick! Someone hide all the crowbars, quick! Collecting Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #6-10.

Ah, sidekicks. These days, my accepted status as a grumpy Old means I tend to avoid stories with teenage protagonists because what is perfectly reasonable behaviour for an adolescent bugs the crap out of me as a reader. This was realistic and upsetting and sad, but as with the theme of this series in particular, also hopeful. Dan Mora's art continues to slay me. I did love the retro circus save the animals story at the beginning!

Texreader You‘ve perfectly described how I often feel about those young adult books. Often very cringey 3mo
Robotswithpersonality @Texreader Yes! I'm so glad there's a robust YA market for those who love it and especially for teens who are GOING THROUGH IT, but having all that drama in my rearview, I have no need to relive it. And then you add superpowers ! 🫣 3mo

Just hanging out. Batman in full goth 'BE the bat' mode hanging upside down from the roof of his cave and Superman and another floating colorful character keeping him company. 😂

What if Superman had a sidekick? I love everything Dan Mora draws and will never shut up about it. Mark Waid expertly blends incredibly wholesome versions of the characters with classic harrowing comic book action.
