Mehso-so

The characters had pretty much the same personalities (as in the original); it was a odd to have Matthew and Marilla living in an apartment in a city. It was good, but it‘s just so hard to live up to the original. That being said, it‘s probably not the original book in my mind (I have read it twice, but it‘s been a while), but the CBC miniseries from the mid-80s, which remains one of my all-time favourite movies. I liked the artwork.

It was a wonderful retelling of one of my favorite books! Modernization without Anne losing her essence that has made her a beloved character, plus LGBTQIA+ themes and a sapphic storyline! I love the way that Anne was shown such unconditional love and support while grappling with fitting in, being teased, self-image, and sexuality. As well as the use of gentle parenting techniques by Matthew and Marilla!

Ugh, 12-year-old Gilbert Blythe is still the worst.

New Libby borrow! This is said to be a modern Sapphic graphic adaptation.

This is a graphic novel retelling of “Anne of Green Gables“ set in present day. In this version Anne lives in a city and develops romantic feelings for her friend Diana. I found it somewhat simplistic, but as the target audience is 9-12 years old that is to be expected and I think this would be a fun, positive read for the younger set. It illustrates great values and I will be passing my copy onto my 9 and 7 year old grandchildren. 3.75 stars.
