This book has an interesting style of intermixing short stories about ordinary women living in war in Ukraine (not the current one, but related to it) interspersed with photos of real Ukrainians in the wild. Despite being a very slim book, this took me a while to read, but I think that was me, not the book.

Hooked_on_books @Anna40 This is inspired by the fighting in 2014. Also with Russia. Not sure if it‘s considered separate from the current invasion or not. I just didn‘t want people to think it was about 2022. 2y
Anna40 Ok. I was wondering if it was during WW2. Do you know any Ukrainian authors writing in that time period? 2y

I purchased this based on an article about fiction and non-fiction books to read if you want to learn more about Ukraine. This is a book of connecting short stories about Ukrainian women which take place before the recent Russian invasion. Part of the country was war-torn at that time, and the stories focused on their experiences living in those conditions. [cont'd]

Sparklemn Maybe my reading pace was too slow because I kept losing track of the connections between the characters and lost interest in all of them. It did inspire me to do a little more research on the history of Ukraine 2y
