In the Middle of Somewhere | Roan Parrish
6 posts | 13 read | 8 to read
Daniel Mulligan is tough, snarky, and tattooed, hiding his self-consciousness behind sarcasm. Daniel has never fit in not at home in Philadelphia with his auto mechanic father and brothers, and not at school where his Ivy League classmates looked down on him. Now, Daniel s relieved to have a job at a small college in Holiday, Northern Michigan, but he s a city boy through and through, and it s clear that this small town is one more place he won t fit in. Rex Vale clings to routine to keep loneliness at bay: honing his muscular body, perfecting his recipes, and making custom furniture. Rex has lived in Holiday for years, but his shyness and imposing size have kept him from connecting with people. When the two men meet, their chemistry is explosive, but Rex fears Daniel will be another in a long line of people to leave him, and Daniel has learned that letting anyone in can be a fatal weakness. Just as they begin to break down the walls keeping them apart, Daniel is called home to Philadelphia, where he discovers a secret that changes the way he understands everything. "

Other than the steamy scenes being a bit much for me, I adored Rex and Daniel. They were complex and strong in their own way. The way they complimented each other was heart warming especially when they were exactly what the other needed.

Loved the writing style. The characters felt real and sucked me into their back stories, which is my favorite place to be!

I was thinking the other day about this book, and it was really just me making noises about it in my head. It could probably be about 50 pages shorter, with some sexy times cut, but I often read books like an editor. Parrish‘s writing is some kind of sorcery because despite the flaws I was riveted. The characters‘ backstories made me feel some type of way, and the relationship development was super satisfying. TW for some violence. #romantsy

Chachic I really enjoyed reading this one too, and the sequel as well. 7y

I can‘t believe how addicted to this book I am right now. It took ALL of my willpower not to stay up super late last night to try to finish it. Getting up before 6 am kind of makes you regret such bad decisions the next day. And what‘s even better is that I‘m pleasantly surprised by how much I like this. Just goes to show you can‘t always be swayed by GR reviews. #romantsy

In the Middle of Somewhere is one of my favorite reads this year. I haven't read a lot of MM romance and I was happy to discover Roan Parrish (thanks to @Angieville ). This was a lovely romance between two flawed characters - their personalities are very different but I felt that they balanced each other out. Definitely planning to read more of the author's books!

Angieville Yay!!! So glad you loved it! I absolutely loved the second one as well. 8y
Chachic @Angieville I've been meaning to review these books for the longest time but it's just too difficult to write full reviews nowadays. So I took advantage of Litsy's format instead. 8y
