RomeAntically Challenged by Marina Adair is the first in a new series (When in Rome). Funny and flirty, a light read/contemporary romance that delves into some deeper real issues. There was a lot going on in this book...A bit like is scattering of fish food on the pond instead of dropping in one big hook. I feel like one big hook at the beginning would have hooked me in and kept me wanting to...more in comments

I fell in love with the characters right away. The confusion placing Ahn Nhi Walsh in the unexpected path of Emmitt Bradley is a perfect storm! This is the perfect escape from life for awhile book. This is a delightful story about how 2 people discover a new perspective on love, family and friendship. How do you balance a work life and a social life? Happiness often comes after self reflection.

Won this eARC on GR - thanks Kensington. It comes out on the 28th.

I'm not much a romance reader, but I think I'm starting to like these kinda small town romances. Very cute & a great start to a series. I love the enemies, or well this was probably more frienemies, to lovers trope, but this also had a lot of heart, family, and belonging in it. I also liked that the author based Annie on her experience w/her own adopted Vietnamese daughter.

night_shift My biggest gripe is that the misunderstanding at the end felt very forced/flimsy. I get the logic behind it, but it felt like a HUGE overreact. Despite that, I think I'll pick up the second one next January as I'm interested in seeing how those two characters are going to play out! 4y

When Annie's fiance traded her in for another woman he kept the wedding she'd planned, incl. her grandmothers dress.When she's offered a job at a hospital in Rome she jumps at the chance - only to discover its Rome, Rhode Island, not the exotic escape she envisioned. Still its a chance to start fresh. Things are going well until the sexy cocky owner of the house she's in shows up unannounced, underdressed & unaware he has a tenant.
