A Good Father
A Good Father | Catherine Talbot
2 posts | 1 read | 1 to read
"When I hit her, which isn't often, I am careful not to go too deep around her cheekbones because her cheekbones are a great feature of hers." Des is a good husband, a good father - a good man. He encourages his wife's artistic endeavours. He holds down a well-paid, if unfulfilling, job. He is manager of his sons' Under-11s football team. He reads bedtime stories to his children every night. But appearances can be deceptive, and behind closed doors secrets threaten to ruin everything. Des is afraid... He is afraid of the world encroaching on his family. Afraid of past mistakes catching up on him. Afraid of losing control. Des is master of his home, and he must maintain his authority over it - and everyone in it - at all costs.

Mehso-so

Finished my sixth book for #JubilantJuly and crossed the 2600 threshold, now just need to finish one more #NetGalleyBook before midnight.

I quite enjoyed this book, although can‘t say I particularly liked either of the main characters. Interesting to see the beginning and end of a relationship and see and feel a train crash about to happen. Very intense last chapter 😢 Somewhere between so so and good. 3.5 Stars.

Andrew65 I received a review copy of this book for a fair and honest review of the book. Will post the link to the full review tomorrow #NetGalley #PenguinRandomHouse (edited) 4y

I forgot to post my totals for the penultimate day of #JubilantJuly. Yesterday I read 411 pages and finished one book.

Overall totals so far.

1. Read 2264 / 2600 Pages

2. Read 5 / 6 Books

3. Read 2 / 4 NetGalley Books.

So to meet all 3 goals I need to read 336, finish 1 book for the second goal and finish 2 more NetGalleyBoojs for the third goal.

Will definitely achieve two goals, the third is much trickier.
