Brilliant book.
Nature and people, a patch if park and lonely characters.
Really gentle.

A 9-year-old child steals a book about the supernatural from a charity shop bin:
"Once he got it home he'd found he could not escape from its terrifying pull; that night, it was as if all the terrors on its pages might burst out of it and fly howling about the room."

Reading in a shady gazebo on the Algarve coast. 😎
Heading back to Lisbon tomorrow.

Lindy @Seascape The surf sounds lovely too. Perfect place to read about Londoners who care about nature in their city. 8y

My next door neighbour just gave me this! Months ago I recommended At Hawthorn Time and she liked it so much she ordered (from England) another by same author. Book didn't arrive, so they sent another. 3 months later, original package showed up. Lucky for me. 😀
