2 posts | 2 read | 2 to read
From an exciting new voice in cosy women's fiction, a charming and cosy Christmas story... Sometimes love can be found in the most unexpected places. After a bad break-up, eternal optimist Evie Miller has moved to the small village of Chipton to finally pursue her dream of opening a craft shop. Unfortunately, with money worries and an ex-boyfriend determined to track her down, her fresh start isn't going entirely to plan. Jake Hartwood is also looking to escape his past. Haunted by the loss of his wife, he's determined not to get close to anyone again. But the last thing he needs is to be alone over Christmas. In need of a break, Evie and Jake agree to spend Christmas together as friends in a private villa in Provence. But can they avoid the magic of the season from changing things between them? And what happens if one of them starts to feel something more?

Aww this is an emotional read. It touches on a few difficult subjects like grief and toxic relationships. The plot is a slow burn but comes together well. I like the character developments especially her parents. Smoke is the best character of course. The ending is really good and I enjoyed the story. 4*

Pickpick

A brooding new resident in Willowbrook and his curious dog don't meet local craft shop owner, Evie, under the best circumstances. But the more they interact, the cracks in their hearts start to heal, they begin to realise that perhaps from a wobbly beginning, something special can grow. A little repetitive in terms of language - a lot of references to dimples and tensing muscles - but that can be overlooked for a sweet, seasonal tale.
