What's wrong?
1. I started a series with book 2
2. Audiobook narrator Susanna Duff's voice has a childish timbre that sets me on edge.
3. Too much just-can't-wait-to-get-back-in-the-sack-with-you between the two main protagonists.
4. Unconvincing Catch-22 scenario with Jax's mother, setting up a plot likely to disappoint.
I gave this an hour & 45 minutes before giving up, because I generally like science fiction with kickass women. Not this time.

Megabooks I hate childish voices! 7y
Lindy @Booksandcooks I'm not a fan of high-pitched voices either. Duff might be ok for a different book, but this one is first person in the voice of a brazen, independent woman, addicted to the adrenaline thrill of a dangerous job she's been doing longer than anyone else. 7y
josie281 That's tough. I've bailed on audio and gone to print book if the story is intriguing enough. Great review. 7y
Lindy @josie281 Thanks. This is a case where I have heard enough of the story to know that the problem for me is greater than the audiobook narrator. On the other hand, a great narrator might have pulled me through this in spite of elements that aren't my thing. 7y
