The book in the image isn‘t on Litsy. It‘s a pretty solid book but it can be a bit confusing because the author has created an entire species with multiple genders and the main character has to try to figure it all out - in the midst of some empire collapsing shenanigans. The confusion isn‘t from the multiple genders but rather you‘re along for the figuring out rather than having the knowledge upfront.

Pickpick

Takes place during the Civil War but the focus isn‘t on the war or cause, there‘s some discussion and one character does have slaves. Slavery isn‘t given the weight it should be given the context of the book and the fact a main character is a slave owner. There‘s mention of airships, which provides a steampunk feel. Spies. Traitor (the why is kind of sad). Not everyone fighting for the same reasons. Slow burn sex scenes.
