There Once Was a Cowpoke Who Swallowed an Ant | Helen Ketteman, Will Terry

"There once was a cowpoke who swallowed an ant A fiery thing with a Texas-sized sting. The cowpoke panted, and his voice got higher. 'Yippie-ti-yay! My stomachs on fire!!' In this Texas-styled reworking of "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly," a cowboy downs a variety of native Southwest creaturesa spider, a roadrunner, a lizard, an armadillo, a snake, a boar, and moreall to catch that ant! Another hilarious and vividly illustrated tale from the team behind Senorita Gordita and The Three Little Gators.

Haven't been having a great couple of days, so not much reading happening for me. Oldest has been cleaning out his room (not voluntarily) and gave the twins some books he no longer wanted. I think he must have either bought this one himself or was given it. I don't really like it. It's a take on “The Old Woman Who Swallows a Fly.“ First problem is he swallows himself. 😕 Second he says “I wish I was dead,“ which I'm not comfortable with. 🔽

SleepyDragon 🔼 I just don't think that sentence should be said jokingly, especially in a picture book. I don't like reading it out loud to them. The kids like the different animals, but lost interest after a couple readings, thankfully. 🌟(1) This one may be disappeared when no one is looking. 7mo
