Visions in Death
Visions in Death | J. D. Robb
On one of the city's hottest nights, New York Police Lieutenant Eve Dallas is sent to Central Park-and into a hellish new investigation. The victim is found on the rocks, just above the still, dark water of the lake. Around her neck is a single red ribbon. Her hands are posed, as if in prayer. But it is the eyes-removed with such precision, as if done with the careful hands of a surgeon-that have Dallas most alarmed. As more bodies turn up, each with the same defining scars, Eve is frantic for answers. Against her instincts, she accepts help from a psychic who offers one vision after another-each with shockingly accurate details of the murders. And when partner and friend Peabody is badly injured after escaping an attack, the stakes are raised. Are the eyes a symbol? A twisted religious ritual? A souvenir? With help from her husband, Roarke, Dallas must uncover the killer's motivation before another vision becomes another nightmare...

Finished this during the early hours of the night and let me say that it‘s not a book to set up and read in the wee hours of the night 😳📖 stay out of those dark places 👀😳

Book 19 in the In Death series (#SeriesLove2023 and one of my series to focus on) finds Eve looking for a murderer that takes his victims‘ eyes. As usual, it was fast paced and well plotted. I liked the evolution of Eve and Peabody‘s relationship in this one.

First finish for #20in4

Susan Ericksen‘s narration was spot on as always.

This has everything that is great about this series: Dallas & Peabody's friendship & working relationship is a joy, two healthy romantic relationships (Dallas/Roarke and Peabody/McNab), witty banter, a solidly plotted story line with a sneaky twist. 5🌟

TW: sexual assault, sexual violence, mention of historic child abuse.

This is a series that I always enjoy reading! Whenever I am in a reading slump I pick up the next book in this series and find myself reading once again. I thought that this was a great addition. There were some great scenes between Roarke and Eve. I will always recommend this series but I do think that you should read them in order to get the best reading experience!
