Everything On It | Shel Silverstien

Runner up to my favourite poem, from the same collection.
"A spider lived inside my head/Who weaves a strange and wondrous web/Of silken threads and silver strings/To catch all sorts of flying things,/Like crumbs of thoughts and bits of smile/And specks of dried-up tears,/And dust of dreams that catch and cling/For years and years and years...."

Mehso-so

It's been a while since I read any Roald Dahl but I get similar vibes from the majority of Shel's poems in this collection. Silly illustrations and silly poems, often gross bordering on offensive - but there are sweet ones, and also ones that feel like profound moments of insight. My impatience continues to be deleterious to my enjoyment of most poetry, but it turns out there ARE actually poems I love, and that's a wonderful discovery. #poetry
