Laney is a college freshman and she‘s writing a novel. She is attacked by a man that looks like the villain in her novel. He begins threatening her unless she writes the novel the way he wants. She is racing the clock to understand why he is here and how to stop him.

Fantasy meets romance with a bit of historical fiction. The narrative was smooth moving and stayed intriguing from beginning to end. There was maybe a bit more of the romance element than I am really interested in, but it didn't saturate the book. I also could have used more development in the fantastical element, but am awaiting the sequels. A good read with a likable plot & characters as well as a unique twist on a plot device I love. 4.5 stars.
