These are the last two books in the Temeraire series. Both were really good. In Blood of Tyrants, Laurence washes up on the shore of Japan with amnesia. And in League of Dragons, Laurence's memory is back but Napoleon has captured Temeraire and Iskierka's egg and they have to get it back 🐉

The Temeraire series is great fun and this is one of the stronger entries.

I stuck with it because I've been loving the series, but this one really fell flat for me. Starting a little after book 7 ended, we find Laurence and Temeraire separated, with Laurence washed up in Japan, after a storm. Their goal is China, but over 100 pages are them getting back together with one wrench thrown in the works: Laurence has lost any memory of his dragon. The last third or so was more engaging, and I will be finishing the series.

Like all the Temeraire books, this one was excellent. Once again Novik took me to a new country and introduced another dragon and human social setup unlike any before. I have no specific praise or complaints. It was as solid as the books that precede it. Great series.

I am finally settling in to read the last two books of the Temeraire series--so naturally I checked out the audio and the ebook and the paper book from the library so I could read it and listen to it at every available moment. I prefer listening, since my favorite narrator (Simon Vance) does such a great job with the series. But you never know when you'll be stuck in line without headphones!

LizzyM I do this all the time! I love switching between ebook and paper especially:) 8y

How do you summarize book 8 of 9 of a series you've been reading for a decade? If you've gotten this far then you know - the details of the world building are as cool as ever, though it does drag in the middle. One more book to go! (Did this one on audiobook - the narrator is wonderful.)

Trying to catch up on this series, but I always find it so much easier to remember the eight or so dragons over the thirty or so people. Who are all of you again???

Betterthanasharpstickintheeye I need to pick these back up. 8y
