More than anything, William wants a doll. "Don't be a creep," says his brother. "Sissy, sissy," chants the boy next door. Then one day someone really understands William's wish, and makes it easy for others to understand, too.

An older story with a message still relevant today. Kids should be able to play with whatever toys they wants. Toys shouldn‘t be gendered. Girls can play with skateboards, and boys can play with dolls. A boy who learns how to care for a doll is preparing for being a father. ❤️

rubyslippersreads Wendykins! I used to play with these Madame Alexander dolls because my mom disapproved of Barbie. 😄 10mo

“But he didn‘t stop wanting a doll to hug and cradle and take to the park. One day his grandmother came to visit.”

This is a very cute book. It gives a great message about how any kid can play with any toy, no matter their gender. The images help to tell the story, and pop off the page as everything but the art is just white

This story tells the story of William, a boy who wants nothing more than a doll to hug, feed, tuck in, and kiss goodnight. His father buys him toys, but not the doll he really wants. One day, his grandmother comes and gives him a doll for exactly the right reason. The images in this story are excellent. The focus on the essential parts of the story with nothing excess that could overwhelm or distract you from what is important.
