Pickpick

My 8yo would like to recommend this book to any other kids around 7-9 who like humorous books. E.g in the vein of the 13 Story Treehouse, Captain Underpants etc.

If your kid, like mine, only reads FUNNY chapter books, I‘d also recommend The Terrible Two, the Tapper Twins - linked below.

JennyM Thanks to your son. My 6 and 9 year old are always looking for recommendations xx 5y

Centique @JennyM yay! 😁 Hope they like them. 5y
AlaMich I just looked this up on Amazon and learned that the school in question is called Bea Arthur Elementary! 🤣🤣 5y
Centique @AlaMich that‘s so cute! Bea Arthur was awesome. In NZ we don‘t usually have schools named after people (maybe one I think?). I‘m guessing in the US those school names are usually president names? 5y
AlaMich @Centique In some cases. Other times they are historical figures that are important locally or regionally. But most schools in the US aren‘t named after people, usually named after the town or suburb or street where they are located. I mean, I haven‘t done a survey or anything, you realize...😆😉 5y
AlaMich And going back to the books, is there any content that parents might find objectionable? My wife teaches first grade and has to be very careful about books, even when they are theoretically age-appropriate. She wouldn‘t have Capt. Underpants in her classroom, for example. Too vulgar (edited) 5y
Centique @AlaMich 😂 I just went down a rabbit hole of my own seeing if there were any here and I found 5 already! One of them was a made up name and not a real person (bizarre) and one is a crazy historical character I knew nothing about. Now I do! That‘s rabbit holes for you 😂😂 5y
Centique @AlaMich I‘ll have a flick through it and let you know. 5y
AlaMich @Centique Cool, thank you! 5y
Centique @AlaMich it‘s all good. Just silly about dogs misunderstanding humans while they‘re “undercover” trying to pass as a student. 5y
AlaMich @Centique Thank you so much! I‘ll order one for my spouse! 5y
CarolynM Has your 8 year old read Maurice Gleitzman's Toad series? My kids loved them around that age. The first book is 5y
Centique @CarolynM oooh great. 😀 I‘ll reserve that at the library. He‘s read a couple Gleitzman but not those. 5y
Jaimelire My eight year old just started reading this and loves it! 3y
Centique @Jaimelire so glad to hear that - one of the most enjoyable series for kids I reckon 😊 3y
