Ok this isn't book related but I'd like some perspective. I'm 29. I really don't know what to do with my life. I have a good job but I'm beginning to itch for change. Trouble is I'm not sure what that would be. I don't really like my field...nonprofits...but I have no clue what else to do. I also feel 'too old' to make a drastic change. I'm also at the age when the question of a baby is creeping up. Does anyone have wisdo.? Itself really eating me

Cortg I dabbled in a lot of jobs/careers in my life. I didn‘t find my current career until I was 38 and I plan to work 25-30years, before I retire. You‘ve got plenty of time. Be on the lookout to seize opportunities as they come along and keep an open mind to trying new things. 5y
IndyHannaJones @Cortg thank you. That is a nice thought. I sometimes feel guilty because my job is 'good' and what is wrong with me for not being satisfied? 5y
Soubhiville You‘ve definitely got time! Think about what you would like to do, and look into what jobs are out there in that area. Or try volunteering at a couple of different kinds of things and see what you like. I‘m mid 40‘s, and I‘ve tried several things in the same kind of genre of job. I keep coming back to my original career choice after taking a couple years doing something else. Good luck! 5y

valeriegeary I don't have advice about the job situation... But sometimes when I get anxious to make a big change, a trip to some place new or a woodsy adventure helps. Or sometimes just trying out a new hobby. Our brains love novelty so sometimes something small but new is enough to make the other parts of our lives feel more satisfying! Also it's okay to want more out of life even if it's objectively good. I think this is very human. 😊 5y
whatsthEStorey I think learning to let go of the idea that you have to have it all figured out right now is important. I‘m working on that too. Careers evolve a lot now, so you are definitely not alone considering a career change. That‘s very doable. Still scary though! The baby thing is hard. You truly do have time to figure that out, and you will! 5y
IndyHannaJones @whatsthEStorey well my whole fear is everyone is like well you don't want to get TOO old now do you? 5y
whatsthEStorey @IndyHannaJones so many well-meaning opinions about the goings-on of others‘ uteruses! Hmmm...ask them if they‘d like to carry, birth, and raise your child in the interim until you‘re ready to take over! 😆Seriously though, I get it, our eggs literally have an unmarked expiration date. There‘s no good answer for that other than you‘re ready when you‘re ready. Or you‘re not ready & you just do it anyway! Or not! All valid choices. 5y
whatsthEStorey In any case, 29 is a ways off from too old! 5y
