Last image I'll post, so I don't inundate you with the whole manga. Ninja cyborg assassins! @GingerAntics

GingerAntics What in the world? Who are they supposed to be from the play?! lol 5y
LibrarianRyan I have to eat this. 5y
readinginthedark @GingerAntics The men Macbeth sends to murder Banquo and Macduff's family! They just appear out of nowhere in this, and the third one is really unexplained. 😆 5y

Here's another one: Lady Macbeth calling actual spirits after getting Macbeth's message about the prophecy. I half expected her to start suckling some dragon spirits! Intense business. @GingerAntics

GingerAntics Wow, that's interesting. 5y
readinginthedark @GingerAntics Yeah, definitely intense. 5y
GingerAntics This Lady Macbeth is like vudu witch crazy. 5y
readinginthedark @GingerAntics Pretty much. She seems much more sane later when Macbeth starts to go crazy, but that might just be the contrast. 5y
GingerAntics Interesting take on Macbeth. lol 5y

Belated but as promised, @GingerAntics ! The first supernatural element brought in is the Wyrd Sisters, who seem to be some kind of naga spirits to me!

GingerAntics Those are ninja spirits. I agree. They look pretty badass. 5y

Starting this graphic novel version of Macbeth adapted by Richard Appignanesi and illustrated by Robert Deas! It's another one that they took in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic direction similar to Hamlet, it seems. 🤔

GingerAntics That's...interesting. lol 6y
rabbitprincess Looks like Dr. Bruce Banner 😂 6y
GingerAntics I have to be honest, that's not at all what I would have expected Macbeth to look like and it even looks like a bit of a rip off of Saltire. 6y

readinginthedark @rabbitprincess It does a bit! 😆 5y
readinginthedark @GingerAntics How interesting! I hadn't heard of Saltire before now, but it looks good. Where do I start if I'm reading the collections? If you see him in the context of the manga, he doesn't stand out as much. They're all kind of buff soldier types. It's a strange interpretation, though. I'll post more pictures soon! 5y
GingerAntics I would think that they would put them in kilts. It makes more sense. Either go naked celtic warrior or kilted Highland warrior. That would be me though. 5y
readinginthedark @GingerAntics Oh, I see what you're saying. Well, I don't know if you've read any of the Richard Appignanesi Shakespeare manga, but most of them have a more Asian-inspired art style to them. I think maybe he picked artists who draw manga primarily, so that influenced the choice more than the setting of the play itself. What stands out about this one is the use of spirits and that the witches almost seem like monstrous creatures. 5y
GingerAntics Oh that sounds interesting. So there is more of a focus on the supernatural, then. Hm. That certainly changes up the story a bit. 5y
readinginthedark @GingerAntics It really does! I keep forgetting, but I'll try to post a couple of pictures for you later. 5y
