Create unforgettable characters your readers will love! 45 Master Characters will make your characters and their stories more compelling, complex and original than ever before. You'll explore the most common male and female archetypesthe mythic, cross-cultural models from which all characters originateand learn how to use them as foundations for your own unique characters. Examples culled from literature, television and film illustrate just how memorable and effective these archetypes can befrom "Gladiators" and "Kings" like Rocky Balboa and Captain Ahab to "Amazons" and "Maidens" like Xena and Guinevere. The mythic journeys of heroes and heroinesthe progression of events upon which each archetype's character arc developsare also examined. Building such a "journey" into your character's story will enable you to stop worrying about what happens next and get on with telling your tale. It's a power-packed method for creating characters that stand the test of time!

This one is for my fellow #writersoflitsy . Of all the writing/resource books I‘ve read, (and I‘ve probably read too many 😆), this one is my everything. I‘ve owned around four different copies of it, and all have been my bible when it‘s come to past Psychology papers, character creations, and literary analysis. This book is my heart. #writers #author #resource

rightasrain13 Added to stack! I've got Stephen King's On Writing and Anne Lamott's Bird by Bird waiting on my bookshelf to be read, and it sounds like this one deserves to be alongside them ☺️ 6y
Jess_Franzino @rightasrain13 It‘s the sort of book that is beyond writing technique, even. Perfect for crafting brilliant characters, their journey, and a deep look into their psyche. Absolutely deserves to be shelved along with those two all-time greats 😃❤️ 6y

My book is an earlier printing (2001) so not sure if the page numbers are the same...Always wonder about that. #BookishHoroscope
