This dual-narrative story set in the world of the Eisner-award winning Black Hammer series chronicles the legacy of a Golden Age superhero. Collects the first four issues of Doctor Star from New York Times bestselling and Eisner-winning creator Jeff Lemire! An aged crime fighter desperately wants to reconnect with his estranged son, who he hoped would one day take the mantle of Doctor Star. Over the course of the story we learn his World War II-era origin, how he got his powers, his exciting astral adventures, the formation of some of Black Hammer's greatest heroes, and more in this heartbreaking superhero tale about fathers and sons.

The world of Black Hammer is so amazing! Lemire continues to crush it with these spin-offs. I like the idea that Black Hammer's name was inspired by a WWII hero. And Doctor Star's miniseries is totally heartbreaking, with excellent art. Didn't care for the at much in '45, though.

Doctor Star & The Kingdom of Lost Tomorrows is a Black Hammer spin off comic telling the story of a father and his son.

Its pretty heavy hitting (I mean...its a Lemire comic sooo...) and definitely an engaging read! 👍

vivastory Haven't read any Black Hammer yet, hoping to start it soon 5y

Jeff Lemire doing what he does best...another story set in the Black Hammer universe that is FULL OF ALL THE FEELS!

This is a story of loss, responsibility, fatherhood, and coming to terms with your own failures.

Its not mandatory reading for Black Hammer fans, but it does add layers and depth to the world that Lemire has been building up for the past couple of years!

It may have made me hurt a little - but I loved it for doing so.
