pickAn interesting look at a now-gone community where Deaf and hearing people alike had the same opportunities to contribute to society. I loved that everyone spoke sign language to the point where some of the interviewees couldn't even remember who was Deaf and who was hearing. This is a somewhat academic book but written accessibly, and it is no longer than it needs to be.
